Fleetwood Mac’s 11th studio album ‘Rumours’ was released on February 4, 1977 by Warner Brothers while they recorded the album from February to August of 1976 at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California. While the band recorded the album, both McVie and Nicks lived in Sausalito’s seafront properties while all the men from the band stayed at Record Plant’s hillside places.
Not only did ‘Rumours’ sell over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time but it became one of Fleetwood Mac’s top US number one record staying at the top of the Billboard 200 for 31 non-consecutive weeks while reaching number one in the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
The album also won a Grammy Award of the Year the following year in 1978.
