Rod Stewart was honored with knighthood this morning at Buckingham Palace in London by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
The 71-year-old legendary singer was honored in the Queen’s birthday honors list in recognition of his service to music and charity. Stewart was accompanied at the ceremony by his wife and their two children.
“He congratulated me on my long career – and I said how happy this made me. I just wish my mum and dad had been here to see it,” Stewart said in regard to his conversations with Prince William.
Sir Roderick is to meet the Queen at a reception for the Royal Academy of Arts and has already promised her to “wear it well” in reference to the title of one of his hit songs.
