The 60th Annual Grammy Awards are coming up at the end of January and the nominations were just announced. The nominations in the various categories include some classic hits legends including The Rolling Stones, Gregg Allman and Yusef / Cat Stevens.
Gregg Allman’s ‘Southern Blood’ was released in 2017 making this Allman’s 8th studio album and being nominated for not only Best Americana Album but for also Best Americana Roots Song Nominees leading the categories with two nominations. ‘Southern Blood’ was Gregg Allman’s last recorded studio album before passing away on May 26th this past summer.
The Rolling Stone’s ‘Blue & Lonesome’ is a covers album done by the band released in late 2016 making this the band’s 23rd British album and their 25th US album. The band was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album. Being the 23rd and 25th album that the band has created, it doesn’t surprise me that they have been nominated for a Grammy.
Yusef / Cat Steven’s ‘The Laughing Apple’ is the 15th studio album and was released in September of 2017. ‘The Laughing Apple’ was nominated for Best Folk Album and is Yusef / Cat Steven’s 1st nomination for a Grammy.
